Choice in School District Five
MAGNET PROGRAMS/SCHOOLS have a specific focus or theme that offer specialized curricula for students. Most of our Magnet Programs/Schools are lottery-based, but some have academic criteria. Once a student is accepted into a Magnet Program/School, they do not need to reapply each year.
SCHOOLS OPEN TO CHOICE in our district include those that have available space for additional students. This varies each year. Students must reapply each year to continue at their school of choice.
District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, disability, sex, age, national origin, immigrant status or English-speaking status, or marital status. All students residing in District Five are eligible to apply to the District's magnet schools and programs. Students with disabilities will be provided with equitable access to the magnet options and school of choice options, but consistent with the child's IEP.
For more information, please visit the Choice pageon the District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties website or call the Magnet Office at 803-476-8260.
